Rehabilitation period of the patient after laser removal of a wart

Modern medicine offers many ways to remove papillomas. Many patients are frightened by the fact that a wound remains after wart removal. With proper care, these negative consequences can be avoided, but you need to know what changes are a reason to consult a doctor.

Wound after laser wart removal

You cannot remove the crust on the surface of the wound; it should fall off on its own

Laser removal of warts involves gradual cauterization of the skin. After completion of the procedure, the skin cannot remain undamaged; there will definitely be a mark from the laser intervention on it. With proper care, the wound heals completely, but in some cases complications are possible.

Normal wound condition

After laser removal of the wart, a bandage is applied to the damaged area of skin. In the first hours after the manipulation, it is strictly forbidden to remove it.

After a few days, a crust forms, which acts as a protective barrier. The healing process occurs gradually as the wound heals. If there is no crust, then the affected area of the skin is very vulnerable to external factors.

Many people are interested in how long it takes for a wound to heal. This is individual for each person. Improvements usually become noticeable a week after the procedure.

At this stage, discomfort and pain when touched completely disappear. The healing of the wound is accompanied by a feeling of itching, which is completely normal.

The speed of healing depends on the factors presented in the table below.

Dangerous complications

If the wound does not heal for a long time, this may indicate serious complications. They occur if mistakes were made during the procedure and the wound was too deep.

This usually happens if the specialist has incorrectly chosen the depth of laser exposure. In addition, complications arise if a person does not comply with the rules of the rehabilitation period.

Possible negative consequences include the following:

  1. The process of wound suppuration. The beginning of the process is characterized by redness and swelling of the affected area. A pronounced pain syndrome appears; the pus itself in the wound may not be immediately noticeable. This happens when the protective crust begins to fall off.
  2. A rough scar is formed. The process of normal restoration of the skin is due to the formation of epithelial cells, connective and granulation tissues. But the synthesis of these components may be disrupted, and a deficiency or excess of any component may arise. This can be caused by any inflammatory process in the body, as well as individual characteristics of a person. The consequence of this is the formation of a scar that is not smooth, but protrudes above the surface of the skin.

A scar can form for the following reasons:

  • Removal of large papillomas when the laser worked at a greater depth.
  • Insufficient level of specialist qualifications and the possibility of error.
  • Tendency to scarring of the skin.
  • Infection of the epidermis if all wound care rules are not followed.
  1. Disruption of the pigmentation process. During the wound healing process, light or dark spots may form on the affected area of the skin. The reason for this is incorrect laser settings or incorrect depth of exposure. Improper wound care after surgery can also lead to similar problems. If after the disappearance of the protective crust a stain remains, then this is not pigmentation. Your skin tone will soon be completely restored.
  2. Damage to surrounding tissues. Immediately after laser intervention, the surrounding tissues may become red, the local temperature may rise, blisters or watery blisters may form, and the entire affected area may appear swollen and swollen.
  3. Long healing process. If a wound does not heal for a long time, this significantly increases the likelihood of various negative consequences. In this case, the process of suppuration and scar formation very often begins.

How to properly care for a wound?

At first, the wound must be treated with antiseptic agents and protected from injury.

In order to minimize possible complications after wart removal, it is enough to follow a number of rules:

  1. It is strictly forbidden to cover the affected area with a band-aid, as this may provoke the entry of pathogenic microorganisms.
  2. The first days after removal of the growth, the affected area of skin must be treated with special antiseptic agents. For this, brilliant green, potassium permanganate solution and wound-healing local preparations are suitable.
  3. It is strictly forbidden to remove the crust from the wound on your own, as it acts as a barrier and minimizes undesirable consequences.
  4. There should be constant access to oxygen to the affected area of the skin, as this will speed up the wound healing process.
  5. If the protective crust begins to lift due to careless touching, it must not be peeled off further. The crust should be soaked in a solution of furatsilin, after which the softened area should be carefully cut off.
  6. The wound must be completely protected from ultraviolet exposure. Before each trip outside, you should apply sunscreen with a high level of ultraviolet protection. It is forbidden to sunbathe in a solarium or in direct sunlight for a month after removing the growth.
  7. The use of any cosmetics is prohibited. If the wart is located on the face, then you will have to abandon decorative cosmetics until the wound has completely healed and becomes the same color as the surrounding skin.
  8. To treat a wound, it is prohibited to use alcohol-containing preparations and harsh chemicals.
  9. During the rehabilitation period, it is recommended to drink a vitamin-mineral complex, which contains vitamins A, E and B in high dosages. They have a beneficial effect on the protective functions of the body, and also accelerate the regeneration process, making the epidermis more elastic.
  10. If the wart is located in the genital area, then intimate life is allowed only after complete healing of the affected area. This usually happens within 3-4 weeks.
  11. The growths need to be treated with special medications prescribed by the doctor.

In addition to the listed rules, there are also recommendations aimed at preventing negative consequences during washing and other hygiene procedures. These include:

  • It is necessary to wash only in the shower; taking a bath is allowed only 2 months after the removal of the papilloma.
  • Do not wipe the affected area with a towel.
  • Visiting the bathhouse and sauna is not recommended for 2 months after the procedure.
  • Hair on the affected area can be removed only 3 months after laser intervention.
  • It is prohibited to visit public rivers and reservoirs for at least 2 months.

Compliance with these rules will help avoid possible complications. Caring for the wound after wart removal is not difficult for the patient; these measures will also help speed up the rehabilitation process.

Contraindications for laser wart removal

A person’s desire to get rid of formations that spoil their appearance and interfere with leading an active lifestyle is natural. Unfortunately, laser removal of warts has a number of contraindications, since it is, although gentle, an intervention in the body.

Specifics of removal of formations

Attention. Do not agree to remove warts without first examining them. This may lead to unpredictable consequences. Not all neoplasms are benign in nature, and some malignant ones, for example, nodular melanoma, are often disguised as ordinary papilloma.

  • Laser removal of warts on the hands (1 piece up to 5 mm)
  • Laser removal of warts on the hands (1 piece from 6 mm to 8 mm)
  • Laser removal of warts on the hands (1 piece 8 mm or more)
  • Laser removal of plantar warts, calluses 1 piece up to 3 mm

Care instructions

Healing after laser removal of warts has its own characteristics. After the procedure, a crust forms at the site of exposure, under which new skin forms. The whole care process comes down to:

  1. Daily treatment of the crust with a disinfectant (Baneocin, strong solution of potassium permanganate). This will prevent infection and the development of inflammation.
  2. Careful handling of the resulting “sore”. The crust cannot be torn off; it will peel off on its own as the wound heals. Otherwise, scars may remain or a keloid may begin to form.

For the first 24 hours, it is recommended not to shower or wet the extraction site. The crust usually disappears within 5-10 days. The skin in this area is a little lighter in the first months than the rest, then the shade evens out.

Contraindications

Is it possible to remove warts with a laser? Does it hurt or not? Of course, the laser removal procedure has advantages, including a good cosmetic effect, no bleeding, painlessness, and rapid wound healing. However, some patients are contraindicated for laser removal. The doctor refuses the procedure for patients with the following conditions:

  • confirmed or suspected oncology;
  • autoimmune diseases;
  • pregnancy and lactation;
  • infectious and inflammatory diseases in the acute phase;
  • diabetes mellitus type 1;
  • immunodeficiency, congenital or acquired.

In each specific case, the doctor first examines the patient, collects anamnesis and decides on the possibility of laser removal of the wart. Almost immediately after the operation, the patient is sent home.

If you are concerned about warts, call the Laser Medicine Clinic. Experienced dermatologists will perform the removal procedure on the day of your visit.

How I got rid of warts in just two weeks

Hello, my dear. As promised, I am publishing a planned post about my small but very interesting experiment.

Let me remind you that a couple of weeks ago, a reader and I made a small bet - I had to test innovative ampoules for oral administration + a concentrate with a dropper for targeted external use “Papinol”.

To be honest, until that time I didn’t attach much importance to the wart that lived quietly on my face.

However, a couple of weeks ago I had an interesting conversation with one of my subscribers. The girl claimed that warts (aka papillomas) are deadly to health. Basically, I read about it in medical journals. Papillomas give rise to malignant tumors and oncology. But damn it, it never scared me.

But the subscriber turned out to be very persistent. And yet she convinced me to conduct an experiment and publish its results here on the blog. The bottom line was this: I had to order an innovative development from Russian toxicologists called “Papinol.”

As indicated in the annotation, the drug contains substances that most actively destroy parasites in the body - thistle and poplar, as well as extracts of echinacea and rosemary. I note that “Papinol” is available in the form of drops for external and internal use, which is very convenient and effective.

The drug promised to get rid of warts in one course. Moreover, you create this course for yourself, which is also very convenient. Personally, I took ampoules once a day and lubricated the wart itself twice a day. I timed it for two weeks. And, after 14 days, she almost fainted.

This little bastard just disappeared. To be honest, I myself did not expect such an effect. I took these ampoules without much enthusiasm and didn’t even pay attention to the changes. If it weren’t for my subscriber, I would have completely forgotten about this experiment. But now I can say for sure - it was a success, girls. If you have similar troubles on your face, I recommend Papinol to you.

How to treat a wound after a wart

Features of laser papillomas removal

After eliminating the papilloma, a small wound remains on the skin. Immediately after the procedure, it is inflamed and swollen. It does not matter which method of tumor removal is chosen, since each of them involves injury to the epidermis.

With proper care, swelling and inflammation gradually disappear. A scab consisting of dried lymph fluid forms on the surface of the wound. It protects exposed skin from infection. Gradually, new epithelial tissue develops under the scab to replace the pathologically altered one.

Different types of wart removal surgeries: how long does it take for the wound to heal?

Modern removal techniques, such as laser therapy, cryodestruction, and radio wave therapy, provide minimal trauma to the skin. But they still leave a small chemical burn. Its healing takes place in 3 stages. At the first stage, a crust (scab) is formed, which closes the wound and protects it from infection.

After removing a wart growth, careful care of the wound is very important, as it speeds up the healing process and helps avoid suppuration and inflammation of the wound. The duration of wound healing will depend on several factors, which are presented in the table.

Factors. Duration of wound healing.
Size and shape of the wart. So, with a diameter of more than a centimeter, complete healing of the wound will occur no earlier than in a month. Wounds from smaller papillomas heal in a couple of weeks.
The state of the body's immune system. With strong immunity, the recovery period will be minimal.
Accurately follow the doctor’s recommendations after the operation. If you do not take care of the wound, it may become infected and the rehabilitation period will take several months.

The healing time of the wound will depend on how the warts were removed. Depending on the method of wart removal, the rehabilitation period averages from 2 weeks to 6 weeks.

  • Surgical removal. If a surgical method was used, then sutures are required and, accordingly, there will be a pronounced scar. This is a serious aesthetic drawback, especially if the wart was in a visible place. In addition, a significant disadvantage of the method is the disturbance of facial expressions (if the operation is performed on the face). If the wound opens, the sutures fester and the scar enlarges. After surgery, the wound heals for more than two weeks. Surgical removal is indicated if there is a large lesion or high-tech care is not available in the hospital. After this, a cosmetic suture is necessary. If, after all, a surgical operation was performed, after which scars remained, they can later be removed using laser resurfacing.
  • Freezing with liquid nitrogen. During cryodestruction, the wart is frozen with liquid nitrogen. After the operation there will be swelling and blistering for several days. But cryodestruction enhances immunity against the papilloma virus, which is very important for prevention. During cryodestruction, papilloma cells die. After exposure to liquid nitrogen, the wound heals within a couple of weeks, but complete regeneration sometimes takes several months.
  • Electrocoagulation or exposure to electric current. During such an operation, the leg of the papilloma is cut off and at the same time the skin vessels are cauterized. After electrocoagulation, a scar remains, since during this operation a large amount of tissue is burned in depth and breadth. Its healing process takes up to 10 days.
  • Radio wave method. When removed using the radio wave method, the wart is removed without affecting adjacent tissues, the scars remain small or non-existent. Radio wave therapy has a gentler effect. With its help, tissues are cut off using heat. A small crust forms at the site of the wart, which quickly falls off. The wound heals in 2-3 days, sometimes it takes longer.
  • Laser therapy. If warts are removed with a laser, the wart is partially evaporated and partially charred. After this, the growth turns into a blackhead, which requires little care. After some time, the dot will disappear. Complete healing of the wound occurs after 5 days. The laser removal procedure resembles a sunburn, so the natural consequences after it are the formation of a crust and redness of the skin. If the skin is very sensitive, then the wound also swells. Most often, these phenomena are temporary and gradually disappear.

IMPORTANT! It is necessary to choose the most gentle treatment methods, of course, in accordance with your capabilities and availability of procedures in the conditions of the chosen clinic.

It would seem that a wart is just an annoying nuisance. But in fact, it can cause a lot of trouble and make a person’s life much more difficult. Warts are the second most common dermatological disease. Sometimes they disappear on their own when a person’s immunity strengthens.

How to properly care for a wound

Wound care after laser removal involves ensuring unhindered air flow to the skin. Constant ventilation of the epidermis allows the surface to dry, which promotes the formation of a scab. The wound will heal faster if you follow these recommendations:

    • Until the crust falls off on its own, it is forbidden to separate it from the wound. Otherwise, you can provoke bleeding, which is quite difficult to stop. And after the wound heals, a scar or pigment spot will remain in its place. There is a high risk of infection, which can lead to complications.

Garlic for the treatment of papillomas: effective recipes

  • Until complete healing, it is forbidden to wet the problem area of the skin or treat it with cosmetics. This will lead to premature detachment of the scab.
  • It is recommended to avoid excessive exposure to ultraviolet radiation on the problem area for some time.
  • Do not cover the wound with adhesive tape.
  • It is prohibited to treat newly formed skin with scrubs, irritating cosmetics or lotions containing alcohol.
  • After healing, it is not advisable to rub the skin vigorously with a washcloth or expose it to a razor.
  • It is recommended to lubricate the newly formed epithelium for some time with sunscreen, which will prevent the negative effects of sunlight on the weakened area of the body.

When secondary infection cannot be avoided and pus begins to accumulate under the crust, you need to consult a doctor. Thick fabric should be soaked in an antiseptic solution (Furacilin or hydrogen peroxide), and then carefully removed. The wound must be treated with an antibacterial agent and proper care provided.

Hygiene procedures after removal of papilloma

A scar or scar after removal of papilloma may remain for several reasons:

  1. Insufficient qualification of the surgeon.
  2. Predisposition to scar formation.
  3. Infection of a damaged wound surface due to non-compliance with care methods during the rehabilitation period.
  4. Removal of large and deep formations when the wound deepens under the papillary layer of skin.

To minimize the risk of scarring, the following precautions should be taken:

  1. In the first 3 days, the damaged surface must be treated with local disinfectants (potassium permanganate solution, brilliant green, wound healing ointments).
  2. The wound cannot be covered with a band-aid. Otherwise, it may become inflamed due to the entry of pathogenic bacteria.
  3. Constant access of air to the wound is necessary. This way it will heal faster, the crust will fall off and a new layer of epithelium will form.
  4. If a scab begins to separate prematurely (for example, if it is accidentally touched or scratched), it should never be completely torn off. It should be soaked using a furatsilin solution, and the separated area should be carefully cut off.
  5. Under no circumstances should you remove the crust on the surface of the wound; it should fall off on its own.
  6. The wound should be protected from exposure to ultraviolet rays, and sunscreen should be applied before each exit outside.
  7. After removing a wart, you should not use cosmetics until the skin on the wound becomes the same tone as the surrounding tissues.
  8. Alcohol solutions for treating wounds and chemicals are completely prohibited.
  9. It would be good to take a course of vitamins E, A, C while the wound is healing to boost immunity, restore skin elasticity and its regenerative properties.
  10. After removal of condylomas in the genital area, intimate life should begin only after the wound has completely healed. You can usually have sex after about a month.
  11. If the wound does not heal for a long time, you should consult a specialist.

Doctors usually allow you to wash after surgery the very next day. Of course, everything depends on the number of papillomas removed and the type of surgery. It is better to ask your doctor about this.

But there are certain rules that all patients must follow:

  1. After washing, the site of the former wart should not be dried with a towel.
  2. You cannot take a bath for 2 months, you can wash in the shower.
  3. While taking a shower, you should not rub the area where the wart was; you need to make sure that no cosmetic product gets on the wound. And after washing, the wound surface should be carefully blotted with a soft cloth or paper towel.
  4. For at least two weeks after removal, you should not visit solariums or public bodies of water.
  5. You should not go to the bathhouse or sauna for two months.
  6. If the wart was in a place where hair grows, then hair can be removed only after 3 weeks after surgery.

IMPORTANT! If these requirements are not met, the wound may become infected, inflammation may occur, and a scar or keloid scars will remain. And this will require additional measures to treat and smooth the skin surface.

How to treat a wound until complete healing

From the moment the papilloma is removed until the scab disappears, it is necessary to carry out antiseptic treatment of the skin. This will help prevent infection from entering the damaged epidermis and speed up the onset of recovery. It is recommended to smear the skin around a fresh wound with the following medications:

  • iodine solution,
  • brilliant green,
  • medical alcohol,
  • Fukortsin,
  • Chlorhexidine,
  • weak solution of potassium permanganate.

How many times a day is it necessary to treat the skin around the wound with an antiseptic after cauterizing the papilloma with a laser or other method? This must be done at least 2-3 times. The duration of such treatment is determined by the doctor based on the size of the tumor removed.

?HPV type 35 is a virus with an oncogenic risk that affects women

If you cauterize a papilloma using any of the methods, after the scab is separated, the skin on the surface becomes thinner. If the affected area is large or there is a risk of complications, the doctor prescribes special anti-inflammatory ointments that speed up the onset of recovery. The most popular means from this group include:

  • Methyluracil. The components included in the ointment accelerate the regeneration of damaged tissues and relieve inflammation. To obtain the desired result, the product is applied to the problem area of the epidermis twice a day.
  • Hydrocortisone ointment. The positive effect of use is explained by the presence of a glucocorticosteroid in its composition. Despite the presence of hormones in the product, it has an exclusively local effect, since it is not absorbed into the bloodstream. The drug helps in the fight against inflammation, itching and swelling.
  • Solcoseryl. The medicine accelerates tissue regeneration, which is why a positive effect is observed. After using the ointment, it is possible to avoid the appearance of scars, since it stimulates the production of collagen. It is advisable to apply the product to problem areas of the skin 2-3 times a day.

How to prevent scarring

Preventing the formation of scars after medical procedures is more effective than treating them. It is almost impossible to get rid of dense connective tissue using conservative methods. Peeling or laser resurfacing is used to eliminate old scars.

?What herbs can be used to treat papillomas?

One of the most popular means used for this purpose is Contractubex. The drug contains heparin, which has antithrombolytic properties. Active substances help accelerate tissue regeneration and eliminate inflammation. To achieve the desired effect, Contractubex must be applied to problem areas of the body 2-3 times a day.

If you cauterize the papilloma, you will be able to eliminate the external manifestations of the disease caused by HPV. Despite this, the papillomavirus remains in the patient’s body and can provoke new rashes.

Recovery after laser removal

Good afternoon. Today I’ll tell you how the recovery process goes after laser removal of moles and other tumors.

How does the site of mole and papilloma removal heal?

The healing and recovery process after removal is individual. If the tumors are delicately removed, the rehabilitation period is only 3–5 days. If moles or core warts were removed, healing takes 3–6 weeks. It takes longer to heal in the elderly, in people with chronic diseases, especially in diabetics and in people with low hemoglobin.

Healing occurs with the formation of a scab, then the scab falls off and a scar forms. Normally, the scar does not extend beyond the removed element and is pushed to the level of the adjacent skin.

Hypotrophic scars (with tissue retraction) can develop in two ways: if deep removal (moles) is necessary or if this is genetically determined. A hypertrophic scar may form - the connective tissue rises above the skin level, but does not extend beyond the removed lesion.

This happens when the removed element was in a place of friction with clothing, which causes a scar to form at the time of healing.

Five main methods for removing tumors

The listed options for scar formation refer to the normal outcome of healing of remote formations. An atypical (non-characteristic) form of scar is keloid growth.

The keloid scar extends above the surface of the skin and beyond the boundaries of the removed element, and it is burgundy, with a bluish tint and very dense.

A correctly collected anamnesis helps to avoid such a complication: it is necessary to find out about heredity burdened by this factor; in women with pierced ears, this can be found out by palpating the earlobe.

Recovery after tumor removal

The recovery process after removal of tumors can be different and depend on many factors:

  1. The type of formation on which the depth of removal depends (for example, a mole is removed quite deeply, and a pedunculated papilloma is removed very superficially);
  2. Size of the removed tumor;
  3. The patient’s age (the older a person gets, the more regeneration processes slow down);
  4. Localization of neoplasms: in areas of friction with clothing, recovery takes a longer time, and in open areas, moles and papillomas heal much faster;
  5. Concomitant diseases slow down recovery;
  6. Correctly following your doctor’s recommendations for home care.

From all of the above, we can summarize that the recovery process is purely individual.

Creams after laser removal of papilloma or mole

After removal, it is necessary to treat the wounds 2 times a day. To do this, use a dark solution of potassium permanganate (potassium permanganate) or a ready-made pharmaceutical solution “Fukortsin”.

Then sprinkle the surface with Baneocin antibacterial powder.

On top, to speed up regeneration and prevent severe scarring, apply Bepanten, Emalan cream, methyluracil ointment or Solcoseryl.

The removal site should not be wetted for 3–10 days; cover it with a band-aid. You can't peel off the crust. If suddenly the removal site gets wet, then use an alcohol solution, for example, calendula tincture to dry it.

If the removal was carried out on the face, then after the crust comes off, lubricate the area and the entire face with sunscreen: in the cold season with an SPF factor of 15–30, and during the period of solar activity with SPF 50.

Treatment after laser removal of a plantar wart

It’s easy to get rid of a growth on the skin, called by experts a nevus, or simply a wart. Especially with the help of modern possibilities of aesthetic medicine. The patient may only be embarrassed by the wound after laser removal of a wart. It is not always clear how to speed up its healing and prevent new problems from appearing.

Treatment and treatment of the wound after laser removal of a wart

After laser removal of a wart, the wound needs to be treated daily with antiseptics (iodine, potassium permanganate solution, Fukortsin), and then treated with ointments with a wound-healing effect (Kontraktubeks, Actovegin, Panthenol).

How to heal an open wound

In case of an open wound, it is necessary to use drying agents for treatment; to do this, lubricate the surface 2-3 times a day with one of the following preparations:

  • iodine,
  • brilliant green,
  • strong solution of potassium permanganate,
  • Fukortsin,
  • Chlorhexidine,
  • Miramistin.

Drying agents create crusts on the surface, under which new skin forms.

From the first days, it is recommended to take vitamin preparations and tinctures with an immunomodulatory effect (for example, lemongrass, echinacea). They are prescribed by a doctor in order to strengthen the immune system and speed up healing. They will also help avoid relapse of the disease. After the dense crusts fall off on their own, ointments and gels are applied to the wound, which have a restorative effect:

  • Actovegin,
  • Solcoseryl,
  • Alantan,
  • Panthenol,
  • Vulnuzan,
  • Bepanten,
  • Methyluracil,
  • Levomekol,
  • Curiosin.

Foot treatment after surgery

To treat the foot after cauterization of the wart, antiseptic agents are used: use a sterile bandage or napkins, moisten them in a solution of Chlorhexidine or hydrogen peroxide and gently wipe the feet. Rubbing the wound should be avoided. Iodine or furatsilin solution, Fukortsin, is applied to its surface with a cotton swab. After this, be sure to wait until it dries completely.

If the patient is at home, then you should try to ensure free access of air to the coagulation site as often as possible, so healing will proceed faster. When you plan to go outside, a sterile napkin is applied to the wound and secured with an adhesive plaster. Then put on socks made from natural materials.

After the scab is rejected, the leg can be washed with warm water and baby soap. The wound is blotted with a napkin or cotton pad and a wound healing ointment with an antibacterial effect is applied:

  • Levomekol,
  • Argosulfan,
  • Vulnuzan,
  • Baneocin.

It is important that until complete healing there is no contact with potential sources of infection - the beach, swimming pool, gym, bathhouse. Shoes must be closed, but ventilated; in winter, it is imperative to use replacement shoes indoors.

How to treat shoes

After laser cauterization, it is recommended to treat shoes with antiseptics ; to do this, first wash them well and dry them with an electric dryer, then thoroughly wipe the inner surface with one of the solutions:

  • Miramistin,
  • Chlorhexidine,
  • Hydrogen peroxide,
  • Formidron.

Treating shoes with antiseptic

This is important because the virus that causes warts can survive well in the environment.

Wound care

Rehabilitation after a laser procedure is aimed at restoring the integrity of the skin. To do this you need:

  • Protection from mechanical damage. This is especially important after removing a plantar wart with a laser; here the skin can be easily injured by tearing off the scab ahead of time. To prevent this from happening, you should wear comfortable shoes. It’s better to provide yourself with the opportunity to stay at home for 3-5 days and walk barefoot. Air baths promote healing.
  • Water protection. The wound should not be wetted for at least 3 days. It’s better to avoid getting liquid on it until the crust falls off. You can wash in the shower with warm water, do not rub the area where the wart was with a washcloth.
  • Use of external means. It is imperative to disinfect the wound with an antiseptic. This can be a 0.5% solution of chlorhexidine, potassium permanganate or calendula infusion. Anti-inflammatory creams and gels are also prescribed.
  • When the crust falls off and a renewed area is revealed, it can be smeared with Contractubex to avoid the formation of a pronounced scar. After removing a wart with a laser, you should check with your doctor about what to treat the skin with.
  • Protection from external influences. You cannot go to the sauna, take a hot bath, sunbathe, swim in a pool or open water for at least a month. All this is fraught with infection, the appearance of a hypertrophic or keloid scar, and impaired skin pigmentation. The use of decorative cosmetics is prohibited at least until the crust falls off.
  • You cannot use aggressive care products on the area of the healed wound for another month.

One of the frequently asked questions about laser wart removal is how long it takes for the damage to heal. Normally, the crust falls off after 5 to 10 days. This depends on the extent of the wound, the ability of the skin to regenerate, and the age of the patient.

How long does it take for a wound to heal after laser removal of a wart?

After laser removal of a small wart, the wound usually heals within 5-7 days. If the diameter of the formation is from 1 cm, then the process lasts for 3-4 weeks. A longer period is possible with:

  • non-compliance with the rules of treatment with drying agents;
  • frequent getting wet;
  • friction with clothing, injury;
  • diseases – low immunity, diabetes, circulatory disorders;
  • bad habits – smoking, alcohol abuse;
  • poor nutrition – lack of protein (meat, fish, cottage cheese, cheese), vitamins (rose hips, black currants, fresh herbs).

Reasons for long healing

Sometimes there are no visible problems with skin exposed to laser treatment, but regeneration takes too long. This is already a risk factor for other complications. What can help prolong the process:

  • The patient's existing diseases. These are diabetes mellitus, decreased blood clotting, and hormonal imbalance. If your finger looks swollen for a long time after removing a wart with a laser, hurts, and does not heal, it makes sense to get examined. Although it is better to do this before the procedure.
  • Suppressed immunity. Even if the patient does not have pathologies that are contraindications to laser treatment, the body may not be able to cope with the restoration of a small area of skin. We need help in the form of taking vitamins and immunomodulators. But this should be discussed with your doctor.
  • Failure to comply with rehabilitation conditions. Not everyone understands that even a trivial wound needs special care.
  • Bad habits. Smoking and alcohol interfere with normal blood circulation and disrupt the production of fibroblasts. This leads to a slowdown in the development of epithelium, the formation of granulation tissue and connective tissue. You should give up habits a few days before the procedure and adhere to a healthy lifestyle for at least a week afterwards.

Is it possible to wet your foot after removing a wart?

You can wet your foot after removing a wart after the dry crusts have fallen off. In the first 3 days, it is recommended to only wipe with wet wipes and completely avoid contact with water. It is important that the shoes are ventilated and that the socks are made of cotton or woolen threads. Excessive sweating of the feet often causes long-term healing of the wound and inflammation.

After a week, if healing is good and the crusts are rejected, you are allowed to wash your leg, but you should not rub the cauterized area with a towel. It is better not to use cosmetics other than regular baby soap.

Possible consequences after the procedure

The disappearance of a wart under the influence of a laser beam occurs in a short time. But still, this process is gradual, since it represents the alternate burning of layers of living tissue. After completion of the manipulation, the skin remains damaged. This is manifested by the formation of a scab on it, that is, a dry crust. The surface should recover after this.

In the process of treating a tumor with a laser, errors are possible, for example, too long or deep exposure. Failure to follow rehabilitation rules can also cause additional injuries to the skin.

There are also individual characteristics of the body that can affect the result. And it is not always possible to predict the reaction of living tissue.

Any of these factors can lead to the fact that laser wart removal will have negative consequences:

  • Suppuration of the wound. It manifests itself in that the skin around the scab turns red, swells, and hurts. If the crust peels off, purulent contents flow out from under it.
  • Formation of a rough scar. Normal skin restoration occurs due to the formation of epithelial cells, granulation tissue, and then connective tissue. But if the synthesis of substances is disrupted, their deficiency or excess occurs. Problems may arise due to the inflammatory process, or the body’s characteristics may be to blame. As a result, instead of smooth skin, a scar or dent appears above its surface.
  • Damage to surrounding tissues. Immediately after the procedure, redness appears on them, the local temperature rises, watery blisters form, and the area itself looks swollen. These are all signs of a burn, indicating excessive exposure to radiation during manipulation.
  • Pigmentation disorder. A dark or white spot may appear in the area affected by the laser. This happens when the device is configured incorrectly or the care conditions are ignored. But don’t worry about redness remaining after the scab falls off. Normally, the stain will soon fade.
  • Long healing time. The complication carries the risk of suppuration, scar formation or hyperpigmentation.

Complications during the rehabilitation period after laser removal of a plantar wart

The consequences of removing a plantar wart with a laser include pain, swelling (the finger becomes swollen), a burn, and a scar. During the rehabilitation period, you may encounter complications - the wound does not heal well, oozes, and bleeds. Some of them are a reaction of the body; infection may also occur, which is often explained by poor care of the wound surface.

Swollen finger

If the wart was on the finger, then after laser therapy it may swell. This reaction is caused by thermal effects on tissue and occurs for no more than 2-3 days. A more serious situation occurs if the swelling does not subside and the skin becomes hot to the touch. This is often how an infectious process manifests itself.

It is recommended to immediately consult a surgeon, especially if swelling of the finger is accompanied by:

  • severe pain;
  • pulsating (twitching finger);
  • an increase in local or general temperature.

Before and after laser wart removal (the wound heals without complications)

Antibiotics and surgical debridement may be necessary.

The wound doesn't heal

If the wound does not heal, then the reason for this is a weakening of the body, as well as microbial infection. Medicines to enhance tissue repair are prescribed by the doctor. He may recommend:

  • immunomodulators – Methyluracil, Apilak;
  • vitamins A, E and ascorbic acid, folic acid, group B;
  • microelements – silicon, zinc;
  • activators of metabolic processes - Actovegin, Solcoseryl;
  • enzymes – Wobenzym, Phlogenzyme;
  • biostimulants – aloe juice, Kalanchoe, mumiyo.

Some of them can be applied to the wound (ointments with methyluracil, apilak, Solcoseryl), but most are used orally in the form of tablets or administered by injection. The following external agents also exhibit an active wound-healing effect:

  • Panthenol (ointment, aerosol),
  • Olazol,
  • Bepanten plus,
  • Eplan.

If the cause is suppuration, then it is necessary:

  • use of antibiotics;
  • opening the lesion to drain pus;
  • use of antiseptics (Decamethoxin, Dioxidin);
  • introduction of enzymes (Trypsin, Chymotrypsin);
  • application of antibacterial ointments (Baneocin, Bonderm).

Burn

Burns occur more often with particularly sensitive skin. It manifests itself as redness, soreness, and swelling. The formation of bubbles filled with liquid is also possible.

In this case, it is recommended to lubricate the area of inflamed skin with Argosulfan, and treat the wound with Miramistin or Dioxidin.

If you neglect care, the condition of the skin may worsen, redness will spread, and the healing process will be delayed.

Scar after removal

The formation of a scar after wart removal is possible due to an individual reaction to the damage.

In patients with a tendency to increased proliferation of connective tissue, hypertrophic and keloid scars occur.

In the first case, they are characterized by thickening in the area of cauterization, and in the second they spread beyond the wound. To prevent it, you must use the following means:

  • Contractubex,
  • Mederma,
  • Dermatix,
  • Dermofibrase,
  • Kelocode.

They are prescribed when a removed wart is localized mainly on open parts of the body - face, décolleté, hands. Apply after the scabs fall off. Rub into newly formed skin with light massaging movements 2-3 times a day.

If the scar could not be prevented, then there are methods to get rid of such a cosmetic defect:

  • liquid nitrogen treatment;
  • laser resurfacing;
  • administration of drugs using ultrasound (phonophoresis);
  • injections of hormones and hyaluronic acid.

Wart recurrence after laser removal

Since the papilloma virus, which causes warts, is in the body and manifests itself when the immune system is weakened, it is very often possible for a wart to recur after laser removal. It can occur in the same place or nearby. The risk of its formation does not depend on the method of treatment or correct cauterization. To prevent recurrence, it is recommended:

  • antiviral agents – Groprinosin, Proteflazid;
  • immunomodulators – Immunomax, Cycloferon;
  • local drugs to destroy the virus - Keravort, Panavir.

The wound is oozing, fluid and blood are released

When large warts are removed, the wounds take a long time to heal, ooze, bleed, and release fluid. When localized on the foot, this is aggravated by injury when walking, moisture in shoes, and friction. The crusts may come off ahead of schedule, and the skin underneath is highly vulnerable.

In such cases, it is necessary to use drugs that will dry out and accelerate epithelization - the formation of a new surface layer. These include:

  • Actovegin gel,
  • Solcoseryl gel,
  • Pantexol,
  • Baneocin powder.

Pus has come out: is it dangerous?

If pus comes out of the wound at the site of laser cauterization, then this is dangerous, since suppuration can spread to neighboring tissues, and in conditions of low immune protection, serious complications are possible - an abscess, phlegmon, sepsis. Antibiotic therapy is prescribed for treatment, but only after sufficient drainage of pus has been ensured. Therefore, you should immediately contact a surgeon to examine the wound.

If it hurts

The site of laser treatment of a wart may hurt from 3-5 days to 2 weeks. It depends on the individual sensitivity, location, and size of the skin lesion.

To reduce pain, the doctor may prescribe Paracetamol, Nimesil. If the pain does not decrease, and the condition of the surrounding skin has worsened - there is pronounced swelling, redness, and body temperature has increased, then these are signs of infection.

You should definitely visit a surgeon for an examination.
