Onions for prostatitis: medicinal properties

Onions belong to the lily family. The vegetable consists of a spherical bulb (of different sizes from small to large), covered with dry shells, leaves in the shape of a hollow feather, a stem (thick and hollow), and an inflorescence. The flowering period is June-August (depending on planting time and climatic conditions).

The seeds are formed in umbrella inflorescences, the fruits (bulbs) are collected in August-September.
The medicinal properties of onions have been known to mankind for several thousand years. China, India, and Egypt appreciated this vegetable crop due to its antiseptic properties and amazing ability to fight viruses.

Fiber, sugars, amino acids, phytoncides - this is not the entire list of useful substances found in onions. The composition includes iron, glucose, sucrose, nitrogenous substances, fructose, maltose, carotene, vitamins B and PP. The vegetable is rich in vitamin C.

When preparing decoctions, there is virtually waste-free production using onions, feathers, seeds and even husks. And when interacting with other products (honey, milk), an increase in the healing effect is observed.

Treatment of prostatitis with onions: the attitude of modern doctors

Research has proven the excellent bactericidal and antiseptic properties of onions.
Consuming it improves digestion and appetite, helps maintain the immune system in proper condition. Essential oils give onions their characteristic pungent odor. They have a good antibacterial effect.

The healing properties of onions are manifested both externally and internally. It has a beneficial effect on the functioning of the heart, which leads to improved blood circulation and a decrease in cholesterol levels in the blood.

Constant consumption of onions helps strengthen the heart muscles, which helps prevent the occurrence of coronary disease. There are known cases of curing high blood pressure with its help.

Some foreign experts stipulate the beneficial effects of onions for prostatitis on the state of intimate relationships. It is argued that the tonic and stimulating effect of dishes made from it will have a positive effect on both partners.

Doctors insist that onion infusions and decoctions do not have side effects on the body and are much safer than pharmacological analogues. You can eliminate the unpleasant odor by chewing parsley leaves.

The right choice of onion fruits for medicinal purposes

Most people, when using onions in cooking, unfortunately, throw away the husks, sometimes without even realizing their truly magical properties. However, not all husks are equally useful.

There are major differences between homemade onions and those offered in stores and supermarkets. The main threat is nitrates. An excess of nitrogen fertilizers in the soil leads to the accumulation of nitric acid salts in products. Nitrates themselves are not that dangerous.

But when they enter the body, they are converted into nitrites. The likelihood of developing stomach cancer or suffering serious damage to the nervous and cardiovascular systems, causing irreversible changes in the human embryo, sharply increases.

Therefore, the choice of onion fruits must be taken responsibly. You should pay attention to the main indicators:

Onions for prostatitis: recipes for medicinal products and tips for harvesting

  • medium-sized onion fruits (large onions are not suitable for medicinal purposes);
  • the head should be hard and dry to the touch;
  • The color of the bulb can vary from golden to light brown;
  • a bow with feathers that have appeared (even small ones) is unusable;
  • absence of wet roots on the bulb (a sign of good preservation of the fruit);
  • The presence of even the smell of mold is unacceptable.

After purchasing suitable material, storage should be organized. The fruits are placed in a basket, special boxes, boxes and stored in a room with constant temperature and humidity.

Violation of storage conditions (sudden changes in climate) is fraught with the loss of medicinal properties of the onion (dries out or becomes moldy). Onion peels are stored in a dry, dark place.

Cardboard boxes, jars with lids and bags made of thick material are suitable for this purpose.

Onions for prostatitis: contraindications for use

A doctor can provide qualified treatment only if you trust him. You can use traditional medicine recipes only after consultation with him.

Self-medication, as well as triggering the disease, always leads to negative consequences.

There is one more important feature when treating with onions: it is advisable not to use it for people with severe kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease, or stomach ulcers.

Treatment with onions is contraindicated for patients with high blood clotting, pancreatic diseases, and allergies to onions.

One of the important features of onion peel decoctions is the reduction of blood pressure, which should be taken into account by hypotensive patients and people with serious problems with the digestive tract and kidneys.

When treating any disease, experts recommend a form convenient for the patient: pharmacological or alternative. The choice of means depends on the patient’s condition, the nature of the disease and many other factors.

Treatment of prostatitis with onions against the background of the use of modern pharmacology is possible only as prescribed and under the supervision of the attending physician. In such a situation, you should be sensitive to changes in the body and, if the condition worsens, take appropriate measures in a timely manner.

Preventive measures for prostatitis

There are proven rules to prevent the occurrence of prostatitis:

  • timely care of your health;
  • daily gymnastics and walking;
  • evening jogging (morning jogging does not have a healing effect on the body);
  • feet need to be kept warm and general hypothermia of the body avoided;
  • quitting smoking, alcoholic beverages and spicy foods;
  • Orthopedic mattresses are preferred and soft beds and sofas are avoided.

The pain and discomfort that prostatitis causes are extremely similar to the manifestations of other serious diseases: bladder cancer, cystitis. Timely diagnosis is already half the success in most cases. When it comes to health, it is better to turn to specialists in time.

Beneficial features

An inflammatory disease - prostatitis - requires a special approach to treatment. Using only traditional methods to get rid of the disease is not the best option. Doctors still advise not to deviate from the instructions, but often do not prohibit the additional use of onion peels for prostatitis.

The use of onion peel and its effectiveness are justified by its valuable composition, in which:

  • Vitamin component. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant essential for antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects - exactly what the body needs. B vitamins are present among the elements. They are necessary for normalizing the functioning of the prostate gland. They are used by the body to restore the functioning of the digestive system and central nervous system; they are also necessary for the skin, hair, and nails. B vitamins are called beauty elements, since they are all used by the body to maintain the beauty of skin and hair.
  • Carotene is an immunomodulatory component that ensures the normal functioning of the genitourinary system; it is an antioxidant.
  • Quercetin is another antioxidant, which onion peels are rich in; it is beneficial to use for prostatitis - minimum cost and maximum effect. It is quercetin that has the leading effect on the health of the prostate gland.
  • Fructans – provide protection to the body’s immune program. They have a beneficial effect on the intestinal microflora - under the influence of fructans, bifidobacteria multiply - the body's protectors from dangerous bacilli.

Recipes for medicinal products against prostatitis, based on onion peels

Treatment of prostatitis with onion peels is a long-standing tradition of Russian folk medicine. Since ancient times in Rus', onions and onion peels were used in the treatment of many ailments, including prostatitis. How relevant is such treatment now and is there any point in using “grandmother’s recipes” in our age of high technology? We think there is. Let's list just a few practical considerations in this regard: a) onions and onion peels are inexpensive and easily accessible ingredients, unlike many patented medications; b) medicine from onion peels is prepared at home, that is, you do not need to have special skills to make it; c) treatment of prostatitis with onion peel has no serious clinical warnings and is practically harmless to the patient’s health; d) onion peel has an extensive list of beneficial properties, which makes the treatment complex - along with prostatitis, many other diseases will be prevented.

There's a reason why pets are called nature's therapists.

What is prostatitis, what are the types of this disease?

Before exploring the benefits of onion peels for prostatitis, it is important to find out what kind of ailment this is and what types of this disease exist.

Prostatitis is inflammation of the prostate (prostate gland). The prostate is one of the most important organs for the male reproductive system. The prostate gland produces a secretion that dilutes the sperm into a liquid ejaculate. The prostate transforms the male hormone testosterone into dihydrotestosterone, the active form of the hormone that makes penile erection possible.

The prostate is located behind the urethra, closer to the rectum. It, like a coupling, is attached to the urethra at the point where it connects to the bladder. Depending on the features of the anatomical structure of a man, the gland may be a little further or closer to the described location.

Inflammation of the prostate increases the volume of its tissue, which negatively affects the flow of the urethra. Hence the most characteristic symptom of prostatitis is difficulty urinating.

Other symptoms of prostatitis include: pain in the pelvic area (pain can be radiating, radiating to the kidneys, testicles, lower back), sexual impotence (impotence).

Prostatitis is divided into three forms:

  • Infectious. The cause of this type of pathology is infectious pathogens (bacteria, viruses, protozoa, fungi).
  • Stagnant. Pathology occurs for two reasons: a) poor blood circulation in the pelvic area; b) stagnant processes in the prostate ducts.
  • Atypical. Prostatitis belongs to the group of inflammatory diseases. However, there are varieties of the disease that do not fall under the classical definition of the term “inflammatory disease” - this is oncological prostatitis (benign and malignant hyperplasia of prostate cells); allergic prostatitis (the disease arose for autoimmune reasons); non-inflammatory prostatitis (the pathology is of unknown nature).

Important! The effectiveness of using onion shells for prostatitis will depend on the form of the disease - the remedy will not help in all cases.

Onions are an ancient agricultural crop. Three regions are called the homeland of onions - India, Mesopotamia, Egypt. The time of appearance of onions in Rus' is unknown. Onions were actively used in gastronomy and folk medicine. The ancient Egyptians wrote down recipes for dishes with onions on the walls of their temples, put onions in the bodies of mummies, and used the vegetable to treat chest ailments.

Indians used onions in magical and religious rituals, treated skin diseases with them, restored male strength, and found extensive use for the product in cooking.

Chemical composition and medicinal capabilities of onion peels

Onions and the shell in which they are located - onion peels - are different in composition. For example, the husk of this vegetable does not contain sulfur, which is very abundant in the fruit body of the onion. Let's look at the substances contained in the husk and their therapeutic properties:

  • Flavonoids (vitamins P). Onions contain two vitamins of group P - rutin and quercetin. Onion skins contain only quercetin. Research in the field of academic medicine has shown that quercetin is a strong antioxidant, that is, a substance that prevents premature aging of tissues and cells of the body.
  • Niacin (nicotinic acid, vitamin PP). This substance takes an active part in many metabolic processes and has antioxidant properties. Plays an important role in lipid metabolism. It has a positive effect on the condition of the skin, enhances blood microcirculation, and has a vasodilating effect.
  • Iron. This trace element is an important component of hemoglobin, the protein that carries oxygen in the human body. Iron has an indirect effect on the production of prostate secretions.
  • Zinc. This metal helps synthesize the hormone testosterone – the basis of a man’s sexual viability.
  • Calcium and phosphorus. These microelements are so interconnected in the biochemical processes of our body that we decided to write about them together. Minerals, among other things, ensure the permeability of cell membranes, due to which cells get rid of their waste products. Calcium and phosphorus are important anti-allergenic agents.
  • Magnesium. The absence of this element in the human body makes pain more intense. Magnesium is a natural antispasmodic. Thanks to magnesium, the human nervous system regulates the functioning of smooth muscles.
  • Tocopherol (vitamin E). The vitamin affects human lipid metabolism, plays an important role in the formation of cell membranes, has an antioxidant effect, and has anticancer properties.
  • Iodine. Some biochemical processes that affect the male reproductive system are controlled by hormones of the thyroid and parathyroid glands. Normalization of the production of these hormones depends on the presence of iodine in the body. Iodine also affects the functioning of the heart and cardiovascular system.

Other constituent particles

Many dishes cannot be imagined without this culture

Silicon. The element affects the condition of connective tissue, thanks to silicon it retains flexibility and mobility.

Riboflavin (vitamin B2). This substance is an important catalyst element for many biochemical processes in the body; it helps hair growth, the formation of red blood cells, and immunoglobulins.

Ascorbic acid (vitamin C). The vitamin is a strong metabolite and antioxidant that plays an important role in ensuring the growth of tissues of the human body and the effectiveness of the immune system.

Phytoncides (from Greek literally - “plant poison”). A large group of organic compounds, which scientists call “phytoncides,” have pronounced antiseptic, antimicrobial and antiviral properties.

Contraindications for therapy with onions and onion peels

There are no drugs in nature that could perform an exclusively therapeutic role. Medicines should always be taken with caution, taking into account their associated contraindications. Onions cannot be used:

  • people with viscous blood - quercetin tends to thicken the blood and increase thrombus formation;
  • during gastrointestinal disorders - an infusion or decoction of onion peels irritates the mucous membrane of the stomach and intestines;
  • the medicine is incompatible with the consumption of alcohol and carcinogenic foods - the components of the drug put a strain on the liver. We know that an alcoholic tincture of onion skins is made with alcohol, but do not confuse consuming a tablespoon of tincture with a copious libation - during treatment it is important to maintain a diet;
  • with some medications, such as diclofenac sodium, which have a negative effect on the mucous membrane of the stomach, duodenum, and liver function. Therefore, it is necessary to wisely combine the use of synthetic medications with folk remedies. It is best to ask your doctor for advice.

Best storage method

When using onions for prostatitis as a therapeutic agent, it is important to ensure that this vegetable is suitable for treatment. It is best to grow onions yourself, in your own garden. A vegetable obtained from your own garden will eliminate the need to think about the origin of the product. Naturally, onions should grow naturally - without treatment with pesticides and dubious fertilizers; on the ground, not in a greenhouse; in an ecological setting, and not next to a landfill.

Vegetables purchased at the market or in a hypermarket should be checked for quality - whether there is a black coating under the husk (this is a pest fungus); smell the vegetable - the onion should smell like an onion, not a chemical laboratory; the husk should remain flexible and not fall apart in your hands like a burnt sheet of paper.

By following the precautions listed above, you can easily get your hands on a powerful natural remedy. Otherwise, a medicine made from a low-quality product may be hazardous to health.

Recipes for medicines prepared on the basis of onion peels against prostatitis of various etiologies

Having decided to start treating prostatitis with onions, the patient should know that medicines created on the basis of onion peels are means that can fight viral and fungal pathogens, limit the development of protozoa and bacteria, increase male potency, reduce the intensity of allergic reactions, destroy cancer cells, dilate blood vessels, improve blood flow and patency of the bile and prostate ducts, and facilitate urination. All these qualities help fight various forms of prostatitis to varying degrees of effectiveness. The effectiveness of the remedy may depend on the form of the remedy (tincture, suppositories, decoction), on the characteristics of the recipe (the remedy may be stronger or weaker) and the method of application (local or internal).

Recipe No. 1

A decoction of onion peels for prostatitis has the simplest recipe. To prepare the decoction, you need to collect 100 grams of husk per 1 liter of water, that is, you need to maintain a proportion of 1 to 10. Place the ingredient in cold water and bring to a boil. The husk should boil for about 20 minutes. At the end of the process, the broth must be allowed to cool, after which it must be strained.

The resulting product should be stored in a cool place in a tightly sealed container - the product is organic and quickly deteriorates in air. You need to drink the decoction three times a day after meals, a quarter glass (50 g). The course of treatment is 6-7 days. You cannot drink the decoction anymore; if signs of illness are detected, you must stop treatment.

If the treatment gave results and the patient felt better, the course should be repeated after 10-14 days.

A decoction is a general remedy that strengthens the entire body, and not just the prostate tissue. It cannot be called strong and effective, but some types of prostatitis are very treatable.

For example, allergic prostatitis can be cured with just one course of treatment.

Good results can be obtained in the treatment of congestive prostatitis of both types, as well as fungal and viral types of prostate disease.

Attention! Recipe No. 1 is better than others for self-treatment of prostatitis at home. It is difficult for a patient to harm himself with onion broth, but there will definitely be benefits.

Recipe No. 2

The second remedy is stronger - an alcoholic tincture made from onion peels. To prepare an alcohol infusion, you will need 100 grams of husks and 70-degree alcohol in a volume of 0.5 liters.

Place the husks in a dark glass container with thick walls - any glass container will do, but this one is preferable. The husk is infused for a week.

The process should take place in a moderately warm place, without access to sunlight.

The product is taken one tablespoon after meals three times a day - at regular intervals. The medication is taken for 5 days. If a therapeutic effect is present, the course is repeated after 10 days.

The tincture is more advantageous than the decoction - it lasts longer and is more powerful. However, there are also disadvantages - it cannot be used by people with diseases of the liver and other gastrointestinal tract organs.

Recipe No. 3

Treatment of the prostate with onion peels can be targeted, that is, directed directly to the right place. This treatment is carried out using rectal suppositories, which you will have to make yourself.

To do this, you will need a concentrated decoction of onion peels (the proportion is not 1 to 10, but 1 to 3) in a volume of 250 ml, natural wax - 40 grams, a standard bag of gelatin - 15 grams, 5 ml syringes with cut ends. Prepare the mixture in a suitable container over low heat.

When all the ingredients have dissolved, you need to let the mixture cool to a warm state - it will still have a rare consistency, but already very dense. We collect the resulting mixture into syringes and make 15 pieces. We secure the syringes with a rubber band and place them in the refrigerator, with the pumps facing down.

After 4 hours, the suppositories can be used, for which you need to squeeze the suppository out of the syringe onto your hand with a pump and insert it into the anus, drowning the suppository 3-4 cm. Treatment is carried out for a week, one suppository before bedtime (suppositories with onion peels do not have laxative effect). After a week, the course must be repeated.

Onion peel suppositories are effective against all types of prostatitis, including prostatitis caused by cancer - prostate adenoma, prostate cancer of the 1st and 2nd degrees.

Important! We must understand that ingredients, due to their quality, may have different properties. The mixture for rectal suppositories should be such that the suppositories are dense and relatively hard, without spreading under your fingers, and therefore you can adjust the thickness of the mixture by adding gelatin. There is a possibility that the mixture may not work out the first time.

When using folk remedies, you should consult a specialist.
